Kujira Ryuky Single Grain Whiskies are produced by Masahiro Shuzo Distillery Okinawa Japan 1883.The KUJIRA whiskies were saccharified, fermented, and distilled with 100% Indica rice and black Koji unique to the area and then aged in oak casks to achieve a unique deep amber whisky. The Ryukyu Islands are a subtropical archipelago at the southernmost tip of Japan. Its all-year-round hot and humid climate accelerates the maturation of whisky several times faster than in a temperate climate, thus producing a fuller and rounder body that accentuates the unique aroma of the Indica rice. These unique Spirits are products of their native environment. Kujira means “whale” in Japanese. Distilled by Masahiro Shuzo, one of the oldest and largest distillery in Okinawa, Japan. Kujira Ryukyu Whisky 5 years was made from 100% premium Indica rice. Matured in 1st filled White Oak casks and seated in subtropical climate at the southern end of Okinawa Japan for more than 5 years. Rich with woody aroma and dark fruity flavor. Body is smooth and mellow and finished with sweet notes.
KUJIRA Ryukyu Whisky INARI was distilled from 100% Indica rice, and mashing with “black Koji”, an unique koji that could only be found in Okinawa. “INARI” means the god of rice cultivation in Japanese mythology, which reflects to the ingredient of Kujira Whisky. Vatted the top quality Ryukyu whisky from hand-picked casks for the best balance of harmonious flavors and aromas. Non chill filtered and non-colored.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Sweet scent of caramel, vanilla, and hints of licorice. Oak barrels bring in woody and spices notes.
Palate: Lovely caramel with fresh vanilla notes. Slight tannins from oak barrels gives an attractive texture.
Finish: Smooth, mellow and sweet aftertaste, with a touch of pepper, oak and spices.
